I'm still in Arizona but I should be off for Maryland in the morning.

Snow sucks BTW. I slipped and fell in the snow today. Also, snow makes your shoes wet! Did you guys know that? I only planned on being in Ajo Arizona and El Paso Texas on this trip so I didn't bring a jacket.

I'm looking forward to the long drive. I have plenty of audio books on the ipod. I'm 1/2 way through "The Dome" by Stephen King.

I'm in Arizona and I got stuck in the snow 3 times today. I didn't bring a jacket as I am used to Humboldt weather.

WWII
Aren't you glad you missed it?

Aren't you glad they fought it?

I plan on leaving Texas on Saturday and going to Show Low Arizona to see my little brother Charles. From there I'll drive to Maryland. Should be fun.

Any prediction on the race in Massachusetts tomorrow? It sure looks good for Brown but I find it hard to believe Mass would elect a Republican to the senate.

Just the fact that it is so close gives me hope in America again. It was looking bad for our future for a few months there.

Also, I'm not going back to Humboldt as soon as I thought. I'm going to be drive cross country. Sweet! I love long drives. My mom and step dad are moving to Maryland and need me to help move some stuff.

I'm in Texas now but will head for Arizona in a few days.

I do want to get back to Humboldt to make sure my house is still standing after that earthquake.

TODAY I HIRED A CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY [05 Jan 2010|10:44pm]
So back in June I got a speeding ticket. The thing is, it was for the speed I hit while I was making a safe legal pass. I was behind a guy who I could see was on a cell phone. His speed was varying 50 and 45. I passed him at full throttle. My BMW has a V12 and I hit 75. It turns out I was being clocked by a CHP officer.

When I was pulled over, I wasn't entirely shocked. I distinctly remember watching an episode of the Twilight Zone, with my grandfather, where a couple was puller over buy an evil sheriff. They were pulled over for speeding while they were passing someone as well. I turned to my grandfather and asked "You can get a ticket for speeding while passing someone?" He told me that you sure could.

I wanted to goto court with it because I thought the fine of $331 was excessive, considering the circumstances.

They gave me a court date of January 6th. It turned out I'm still in Texas but I figured it would be no big deal to call in and request a new date. I called today and was told that it was too late to request a new date and that if I didn't appear it would be treated as a failure to appear and a warrant for my arrest would be issued! I am not kidding.

I asked if I could have a friend appear in court for me and explain that I was out of the area. I was told no and that only an attorney could do that. The lady told me to just accept it and call in when I arrive back into town. and work it out for there. I was not OK with the idea that a warrant for my arrest would be out there.

I have a good friend and neighbor named James Flower. He taught a class in juvenile delinquency that I took and he turned out to be a neighbor.

I called James today and was lucky to catch him. He told me he would rearrange his schedule go to traffic court for me tomorrow I still have to pay him but am relived that I'm not going to end up in Shawshank prison!

My Grandmother Peggy.

My sister Aimee, cousin Amanda and cousin Bill. He got leave from the Air Force to come home for Christmas. Bill is the coolest guy you will ever meet! He love God and America! He spent 2 years volunteering to goto the Mid-East before the military finally sent him.

My nephew Adam visiting Santa. You can tell Arizona winters are not like winters in other areas, from what Adam is wearing in this nighttime outdoor photo.

I saw a line that one reviewer said about "Avatar" that I thought was perfect. Here it is:

"Forget dancing with wolves, howzabout doing the Funky Chicken with aliens?"

That is exactly right. So has anyone else seen it yet?

It is a really bummer about Brittany Murphy. I liked her.

I'm still in Texas. We are leaving for Ajo Arizona on Wednesday for Christmas. That should be fun. I'll bake some pies! :-)

Today in Texas:

I saw Avatar today.

It was freaking SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!

The reviews for it have been so good that I thought there would be no way the movie could live up to it but it did and more!

It is the first film I've seen in a theater with digital projection. It looked good but there was a slight "screen door" effect. They just need to increase the resolution a bit more, I suspect.
